Continuing my trip down memory lane, I have been organising some of my old design work recently. A project that I particularly enjoyed at university was designing a portable media and gaming device which I named WifiTv. This project was in 2007/2008. The iPhone was a brand new concept, BBC iPlayer was just taking off and the Gameboy was still the king of handheld gaming. I wanted to bring together the new technologies of the time to create an immersive media and gaming experi
Modern LED versions of the vintage Edison filament bulb are hugely popular and it's easy to see why. They are far more interesting and aesthetically pleasing than other LED or energy saving bulbs. The bulbs are often used as a statement piece, without a lampshade, to complement an urban, industrial theme. When done right, it can look great, but it is starting to pop up everywhere. I looked at how a lampshade could add to the image, without obscuring the bulb. My designs are a
The automotive industry is going through an exciting transition at the moment. The rise of electric cars has given room for new and exciting start-ups to enter the market while the car makers of old scramble to reorganise themselves. The pace of development is rapid, with each new model announced offering more miles for less cash. In fact, the pace is so fast that some consumers seem to have been caught out and haven't had time to adjust. A lot of people criticise the lack of
I have recently taken a trip down memory lane and dusted off some of my old university projects. One project that I enjoyed working on was TableTray, a very quick Industrial Design exercise to design a tray/table that could be used for eating breakfast in bed/working on a laptop. I have spruced up the rendering and presentation (the software and my skills have improved dramatically since 2008!), but the concept remains unchanged. I thought an ideal user to design the product
Here is a recent design I produced for Patricia and Christopher Hodgson for their 25th wedding anniversary. The design was produced bespoke to Patricia and Christopher's requirements and included the colours used on their wedding day 25 years ago. The final package included an A6 card, A6 RSVP postcard and custom envelope. #Invitation #Design
The soon-to-be Whites approached me looking for a fun bespoke wedding invitation incorporating a very unique feature, a hand drawn sketch of the proposal drawn by none other than the mother of the bride! I let the sketch dictate the overall look of the invites, opting for a hand-drawn, story book feel, with turquoise ribbon added later to tie it in with the colour scheme of the wedding. A separate RSVP card was included inside the invite, with a pre-printed address on the rev
I was asked to put together a bespoke wedding stationery package for a client who had a clear idea of what they wanted and required a personal touch rather than an off-the-shelf solution. The stationery included invitations, order of service, place names, table numbers, table plan and thank you cards. The design was very modern and fresh, and tailored to the colour schemes running throughout the wedding. #Design #GraphicDesign #Freelance #Weddings
